A project of the Department of Parks & Recreation
Situated at the edge of Alley Pond Park in Queens, NY, the newly redesigned Alley Pond Environmental Center will serve approximately 50,000 school children annually. With double the space of the current facility, the new center will allow staff to better instruct additional students and demonstrate sustainable building practices using the building itself as a teaching tool.
A project of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Department of Parks & Recreation and the New York Botanical Garden
The redesign of the east entrance to the New York Botanical Garden serves to reconnect the community to the beautiful collections within the garden. Crossing a hardwood pedestrian bridge will lead the visitor to the state-of-the-art Edible Academy and Family Garden. Highlighted in the design of this project are numerous sustainable features, including a greenroof system, geothermal heating and cooling, and solar panels.
