Marist University engaged a team of design professionals to bring their vision for the School of Management and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences to life. The four-story project seamlessly integrates new construction with portions of an existing facility, creating a dynamic academic environment. The completed Dyson Center serves not only 500 students and 100 faculty members but also the surrounding community.
The Dyson Center features four levels of thoughtfully designed program spaces connected by a central, oak-lined atrium. The facility includes a Career Center, an Investment Center, a mock courtroom, a lecture hall, a STEM classroom, a running and EEG lab, a maker space, and a café, along with open collaborative study areas. Additionally, faculty workspaces and administrators’ offices are interwoven with 30 classrooms and seminar spaces. Designed to accommodate evolving academic programming and instructional methods, the building fosters a flexible and forward-thinking learning environment.
Our engineers were pleased to once again contribute to Marist University’s campus development. For this project, heating and cooling is provided by a water source heat pump system utilizing a closed-loop boiler/tower. Indoor spaces are served by air-handling units with demand-controlled ventilation, which modulates the amount of outside air delivered to the space based on CO₂ levels measured by air quality sensors. Lighting throughout is provided by high-efficiency LED fixtures.
