As Kohler Ronan embarks on a new year, we are pleased to share the news that Robert V. Hedman, PE, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, Fitwel Amb., CPHD, LFA, has been promoted to Partner. Having joined the firm in 2007, he has been an integral member of both the mechanical department and our Danbury office. During his tenure, Bob has co-led the mechanical department and has overseen staff and the management of numerous of our larger projects. Since 2015, Bob has also been Principal of the firm.

Bob has not only served his clients and the firm well over the years but has also managed to dedicate time to his on-going professional development. Along with being an Accredited LEED AP BD+C from the US Green Building Council, Bob has earned his Well AP from the International Well Building Institute, is a certified Fitwel Ambassador from the Center for Active Design, and a Certified Passive House Designer from the Passive House Institute. Additionally, he has received his Living Future accreditation from the Living Future Institute as well as certification in Level 1 Thermography from the Infrared Training Center. Bob’s professionalism and commitment to engineering excellence make him a role model to younger engineers and serve to encourage the entire staff. He has earned the admiration and respect of his fellow colleagues at this firm and the consultants with whom we work.

Bob’s Extensive Portfolio

Distinguished collaborations and notable projects mark Bob’s project portfolio. Further, his passion for historic buildings has culminated in systems design for landmark and historically significant buildings across the country, including the Facilities Expansion and Enhancement of The Frick Collection and the Restoration of the Jefferson Rotunda at the University of Virginia. Bob has also completed several unique projects in collaboration with the National Park Service (NPS). Specifically, his NPS portfolio includes the Pullman National Monument in Chicago, IL, the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument in Wilberforce, OH, and the Thomas Cole House in Catskill, NY.

CLF MEP 2040 Challenge

Kohler Ronan Accepts the Carbon Leadership Forum’s MEP 2040 Challenge

By Updates, News

Kohler Ronan joins a growing number of MEP/FP industry leaders in accepting the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF)’s MEP 2040 Challenge. As signatories, we are committed to “advocate for and achieve” net zero operational and embodied carbon by 2030 and 2040 respectively, across all our projects.

As active participants in the sustainable and high-performance building design movements, Kohler Ronan has always designed our MEP/FP systems with sustainability and environmental stewardship in mind, regardless of whether or not a project was pursuing a LEED rating. Our professionals have always evaluated the performance and environmental impact of every project from a “whole building” perspective over a building’s life cycle. We have continually challenged the standard that constitutes a green building by evaluating and collaborating with the design team on building orientation, envelope, fenestration, shading, and indoor air quality. As such, it is a logical next step that we accept the CLF’s MEP 2040 Challenge. At Kohler Ronan, we are confident in our systems experience and our technical ability to develop strategies that perform up to these inspirational specifications.

Kohler Ronan takes pride in the design and delivery of engineering solutions that balance both environmental and financial considerations. By driving innovation, research, and development, our engineers will continue to test the boundaries of accepted best practices to develop improved solutions for the benefit of our clients, the larger community in which we live, and our shared global environment.
