Fairfield University

42 Langguth Hall

Description

The 63,169 square-foot, 200-bed residence hall features several inviting meeting spaces, four study lounges, two social lounges, a communal kitchen on the first floor, a 24-seat classroom available to all faculty, and a variety of living options for sophomore students. Specifically, there are twelve 4-bedroom suites with common lounges, twenty-four 2-bedroom resident rooms, three 3-bedroom suites, three ADA-accessible resident rooms, and a lower level 2-bedroom resident director suite. 42 Langguth Hall also houses administrative offices for Residential Life.

The new L-shaped building provides energy-efficient systems within a construction which is complementary to the 1960s buildings on the quad. A remote chiller plant is being utilized to cool the new residence hall, in addition to five existing quad buildings and two academic facilities. The capacity required for the plant was three 750-ton chillers and an associated cooling tower in proximity to the quad.

Finally, the hall is home to the Ignatian Leadership Residential College. This College provides a distinct opportunity for Fairfield’s students to practice and enhance leadership skills that call them towards increased service within society. Langguth Hall will no doubt prove to be among the most sought after student residences.
