Farmington High School

New Construction

Description

Farmington High School consists of approximately 240,000 square feet and incorporates multiple buildings dating back to the early 1900s and the most recent building dating back to the early 2000s. Kohler Ronan’s initial project scope was to perform a conditions assessment/study on all the MEP/FP and technology systems. The assessment included identifying building systems, evaluating the condition of the equipment, determining when the equipment would need replacement, and uncovering code related issues.

Kohler Ronan completed this original study and prepared two additional studies for Farmington High School. The subsequent studies included a “repair as new” option in which the existing building would be renovated in its entirety and a “new building” scenario which consisted of a new construction building to replace the existing high school. In November of 2020, the Town of Farmington voted to proceed with the “new building” scenario for which Kohler Ronan prepared comprehensive MEP/FP and technology designs. Programming spaces include a performing arts center, production studio, and career technical education and science spaces as well as an auditorium, gymnasium, and music rooms.

This CTHPB is energy efficient, features new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and ample daylighting throughout. Implemented technology allows for increased safety during the school day and for after-hours community events.
