Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums’ Building Museums 2019 Symposium

By March 1, 2019Events

Kohler Ronan was pleased to attend and be a Platinum Sponsor for this year’s MAAM Building Museums Symposium in Brooklyn, NY.  We were honored to have had our own Steve Lembo, PE present our work on recently completed renovations at the Tenement Museum in a discussion entitled: “Revealing the Past to Challenge the Future: The Forensic Architecture of the Tenement Museum.” Joining Steve on the panel were Nick Leahy from Perkins Eastman and David Favaloro from the museum.

Also at the conference, Joe Lembo, PE was thrilled to introduce the closing keynote address highlighting another of Kohler Ronan’s projects, “Access For All:  Creating the New Statue of Liberty Museum.” Our engineers designed comprehensive MEP/FP & Technology systems for this 26,000 square-foot facility located on Liberty Island.

While visitors are already enjoying the renovated Tenement Museum and experiencing the unique piece of American history that space brings to life, the Statue of Liberty Museum will open in May of 2019 with what will undoubtedly be another truly transformational experience. Kohler Ronan collaborated with FXCollaborative and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation on this very challenging and historic project.
